Chinese Human Rights Defenders

The Network of Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) is seeking applicants for the position of Development Officer.

The development officer will work in close cooperation with the co-Executive Directors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identifying and cultivating new sources of individual, foundation, and government funding;
  • Managing grants, including interacting with donors, drafting financial and narrative reports, and running internal reporting mechanisms;
  • Designing and carrying out tailored fundraising campaigns, events, and outreach;
  • Working with the organization’s board to identify new prospects; and
  • Representing the organization to donors and prospects.

Qualifications include:

Education: Bachelor’s degree and five years’ relevant work experience.

Professional experience:

  • Five years securing new funding and managing grants for international human rights work;
  • Superior organizational skills;
  • Ability to self-motivate and manage; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to working as a member of a team.

Related skills and knowledge:

  • Demonstrated success in human rights fundraising;
  • Strong commitment to human rights and/or China;
  • An entrepreneurial approach to fundraising; and
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

If based in the US, permission to work legally in the US is required.  Non-citizens of the US may apply if intending to work from outside the US.  

Salary and Benefits: 

CHRD offers competitive salaries and comprehensive employer-paid benefits. 

The full time annual salary is USD $80,000.
