CHRD has compiled a list of 39 suggested recommendations, including an assessment of actions, if any, that have been taken by the Chinese government to implement the 2009 recommendations (column five of the list) and an assessment of the current conditions of the relevant areas of those rights (column six). The list is drawn up on the basis of suggestions made by civil society activists in China. Some of the recommendations were made by UN member States during the 2009 UPR, but we have revised some of those recommendations in order to make them stronger and more specific. In addition, CHRD has suggested new recommendations. The new recommendations point to areas where we have seen deteriorating human rights conditions, emerging worrisome patterns of violations, or the lack of any improvement since 2009.
