(January 2, 2025) – Sophie Richardson, a veteran human rights advocate and a leading scholar of Chinese politics, human rights, and foreign policy, has been named the Network of Chinese Human Rights Defenders’ Co-Executive Director, the organization said today. Dr. Richardson assumes the position on January 2, 2025.

三年前的12月5日，独立作家、人权活动家郭飞雄欲赴美探望患癌妻子被捕，一个月后他的妻子张青病逝，他于2023年被以煽动颠覆国家政权罪判刑8年。这是他第三次被判刑，刑期共19年！ “从1986年12月第一次参加学潮直至今日，我的政治主张和政治理想从来没有改变过：在中国彻底实现真正的自由民主人权法治。”

三年前的12月3日，四川民主人士陈云飞被变更罪名判刑4年，他于2021年3月25日第二次被捕入狱，对此他曾表示“到哪里都是工作”。此前2015年3月25日，陈云飞与四川维权公民为六四死难学生扫墓，回程途中被捕；2017年3月31日被以寻衅滋事罪判刑4年，狱中曾被酷刑！

据维权网报道，获刑4年的浙江杭州民主党人、八九学生领袖徐光自被捕至今不准家属探望！徐光近日托人要求家人带衣物和日常用品，家人送去却仍遭狱方拒绝！徐光于2022年5月26日被刑拘，2024年4月3日被以寻衅滋事罪判刑4年。他在狱中绝食抗议，体重仅剩80多斤，一度被送到监狱下设医院！此前徐光在1998年因参与组建中国民主党浙江筹委会；1999年6月被捕，11月被以颠覆国家政权罪判刑5年。

据维权网报道，10月18日，北京人权捍卫者张宝成被彻底取消全部低保待遇！他已提出行政复议！张宝成因参与新公民运动，上街拉横幅要求官员财产公开，2014年被以聚众扰乱公共场所秩序罪判刑2年； 2020年被以寻衅滋事罪，宣扬恐怖主义、极端主义罪判刑3年6个月。中国政府必须停止对人权捍卫者的持续报复打压！
