2018 年 2 月春节联欢晚会的节目中，中央电视台节目《同喜同乐》娄乃鸣扮演的非洲大妈、浙江电视台的宋小宝小品《自作自受》扮演非洲黑人卖药酋长都在互联网上被抨击含有种族歧视的嫌疑。中国国内被审查的互联网上依然存在大量基于民族歧视、宗教歧视的攻击性言论。2018 年 3 月的“精日分子”事件也让众多网友开始思考宣扬某个群族的优越和诋毁某个群族不仅仅是伤害民族感情，也可能是现代的纳粹主义和种族歧视现象的再现。
